For the most in-depth, useful, and highest-quality study guides, lesson plans, and reference materials, eNotes.com should be your first internet stop. Founded in 1998 by two recent graduates who were frustrated with the lack of quality online study materials, eNotes.com provides materials in various academic areas including literature, science, and history.

eNotes.com currently offers study guides to over 4,000 works of literature and literary movements including such titles as 1984 by George Orwell, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, and Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo. Literature guides (eNotes and quickNotes) combine high-quality content from a variety of sources, including material developed exclusively by the eNotes team of researchers and writers. The eNotes series offers in-depth guides to more than 1200 works of literature, covering novels, drama, poetry, short stories, and non-fiction classics. The series is designed to provide readers with a guide to understanding, enjoying and studying literary works by giving them easy access to information about the work. Each eNote guide features a comprehensive analysis of the literary work including an introduction, plot summary, character analysis, discussion of themes, excerpts of published criticism, and much more. The quickNotes Series features condensed study guides to more than 2,000 works of literature and is designed to provide critical information on a wide range of works, in an easy-to-use, accessible format. Both the eNotes and the quickNotes series’ are valuable sources of reference for students, teachers, librarians, parents and casual readers.

In addition to the eNotes and quickNotes materials, teachers and homeschool parents will be impressed by the variety of quality literature lesson plans available from eNotes.com.  Each carefully-developed lesson plan is written by educators for educators and offers the most content-rich literature lesson plans available anywhere. Each lesson plan includes an introduction that explains the work and the materials to be used during the study unit and also includes a variety of reading assignments, study guide questions and vocabulary work designed to enhance student understanding of the literary work.

As with their reference materials on literature, eNotes.com offers extensive study materials in multiple areas of science including astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry and ecology. Experiment Central offers one hundred experiments and projects presented in 50 subject-specific chapters each devoted to a scientific concept including acid rain, biomes, chemical energy, greenhouse effect, and solar energy. Each experiment and project has been carefully constructed to provide a comprehensive understanding of each subject and has also been developed with student safety in mind. Each experiment is divided into eight standard sections designed to help students follow the experimental process from beginning to end. Each clearly written experiment includes the purpose/hypothesis, the level of difficulty, materials needed, approximate budget, timetable and step-by-step instructions. A summary of results is also included along with information on what to expect if the variables are changed. Differentiating itself from other companies, eNotes.com science resources include a “Design Your Own Experiment” section that allows students to apply what they have learned about a particular concept and create their own experiments.

eNotes.com thoroughly covers the area of history offering an extensive reference library, a history fact finder and a section entitled Salem on History. In the Reference Library, students will find comprehensive historical guides to more than 20 broad subject areas. Each guide features three volumes covering major events, prominent figures, and primary source material. The History Fact Finder contains 750 of the most-commonly-asked questions and answers concerning the people and events that have shaped world and U.S. history, covering major historical eras from the prehistoric period into the new millennium. For students who are not satisfied with merely reading fact-based reference materials, the Salem on History section comprises more than 25 volumes of outstanding essays on all aspects of history offering students an in-depth look at ideas, opinions and quotes from an impressive array of educators and historians.

Equally as impressive as the reference materials provided in the areas of literature, science and history, are the materials eNotes.com offers on law and politics, business, social science and health. Encyclopedias of Psychology, Medicine, Everyday Law, and Business as well as Baker’s Encyclopedia of Music are all available through eNotes.com.

Never before has there been such a comprehensive one-stop reference site as eNotes.com. If you can’t find it on eNotes.com, it’s probably not worth finding. For additional information, please visit www.enotes.comL.F.
